What made Anthony Wayne an “unlikely general”? Despite his troubled past and reputation for reckless behavior, President Washington chose him to lead the army against Native American forces in 1792. Historian and author Dr. Mary Stockwell will share Wayne’s remarkable story and discuss her book, Unlikely General: “Mad” Anthony Wayne and the Battle for America. A retired history professor and department chair at Lourdes University, Dr. Stockwell is the author of several books about American history.
